Eyes Go Lightning
Eyes Go Lightning
eyes go lightning formed in early 2011 as a side project for an already successful group of designers. various backgrounds in music, design and the arts allow eyes go lightning to provide high energy original rock and roll music rooted in the classics and mindful of independent label bands.
Supreme Fiction
Supreme Fiction
Supreme Fiction make music about communists, existential crises, zombies, and lovesickness (and, of course, zombie lovesickness). Formed in the summer of 2009 by longtime bandmates and friends, the Carrboro-based five-piece creates melodic, energetic pop awash in sugary hooks and group harmonies, shot through with nervous surrealism, and tempered with submerged melancholy. Songwriter Daniel Lawrence is equally clever and lyrical, combining barbed and whimsical humor, reflection on death, juvenile puns and double entendres, and fantastical subject matter while maintaining a genuine emotional core.

Recorded by member Tim Fenwick at Nightsound Studios in Carrboro, NC in early 2011, Supreme Fiction’s 12-song debut album, Berliners, is an exploration of stylistic and thematic possibility by a young band just beginning to establish its musical chemistry. Motown basslines and stately piano vie for space with prickly post-punk guitars and shivering farfisa organs; lush, wistful ballads and triumphant power pop rub elbows with Nuggets-era nightmare lucidity. Incorporating the diverse influences of 60’s pop and rock and roll, modern indie rock, and iconoclastic songwriters of every era while maintaining a personal voice, Supreme Fiction are able to pull together seemingly incompatible aims in a way that is strangely moving.
