Outside Soul
Outside Soul
Outside SOUL started out when bassist/vocalist Matt Grady and drummer
Barrett Certoma began jamming out on old school funk grooves together
way back in '09. After a few attempts at trying to get together a
solid group; they met up with saxophonist Devin Rauson and reconnected
with keyboard player; Andrew Orellana. The four young musicians took
their raw, funky sound to anyplace in Raleigh that would allow them
and began to create a small but incredibly diverse following of
different folks from all walks of life that couldn't resist the urge
to move and groove with this new music. Pretty soon the guys in O.S.
had picked up guitarist/vocalist Chris Macon who added a soulful
"layedbackedness" to the unique style cookin' up right here in the
Capital City.

Now the band has a solid repertoire of funky originals that are a hit
everywhere they go and some unique "remixes" of some classic funk/jazz
tunes. They've just recently brought on a new keyboard player, Nate
Myers, who brings his melodic, energetic vibe to the group. Outside
Soul has shared the stage with some of the area's best bands and has
played at just about every type of venue you can possibly imagine. We
look forward to finishing our album and continuing to 'do our thing'
in new cities with new people who love to have a good time. After all,
ain't that what it's all about?
Salem Ezz
Salem Ezz
After a long run of trial and error Salem Ezz has just now began to ground himself in the professional music scene. His interest in pursuing music began as a 14 year old Egyptian-American, living out side of Detroit, MI. He began with Hip-Hop, very much influenced by artist such as Nas, Binary Star, Warren G, Murs and Atmosphere. Through out his life Salem was also influenced by exposure to classical Egyptian music, living in Egypt during his summers growing up. At 16 Salem began to practice acoustic guitar and found himself in a whole new world of music, bluegrass and folk. Years later Salem found him self in Noth Carolina, beginning to put together a production set up. After, learning production on his own for a month, Salem teamed up with Bongo John (drummer/producer) to meld both his folk and hip-hop interests in to one project. The 5-5-5 EP project.
